FIFA were due to visit potential candidate cities during August.

With regard to selecting a host city, FIFA and the England 2018 bid team will be assessing the candidates capabilities to deliver on a number of areas including:

• A range of suitable hotel accommodation
• Training and base camp facilities
• A dedicated fan park with giant screen for the duration of the tournament
• VIP hospitality facilities located in the city centre
• Adequate transport links to the city itself and to the other host cities
• A high standard of environmental and sustainability initiatives
• Support of the public in the city along with the regional media
