What has FIELDS been up to?

Over the last 12 months we asked you to enage with us in voicing your concerns over the Local Development Framework and expressing your views on the proposed development of the green fields east of Gamston. If you remember this included 4,200 homes, a 45,000-seater football stadium, re-routing the A52 and a possible fourth Trent crossing.

We are delighted to say that the election of a new government and the failure of the UK World Cup Bid have led to the previous plans grinding to a halt.

We can also report that a further two proposals that would have threatened the Green belt area to the east of Lady Bay have been shelved for the time being due to in large part to the Government spend cuts, these are a fourth Trent crossing in Rushcliffe and the Gamston park and ride proposal.

Although the centralise housing targets have been abolished we know that Rushcliffe still needs to build new homes, however, the new approach is that the location of these developments will be in collaboration with local communities and residents, so we will endeavor to keep you up to date with any developments where relevant.

We are not complacent and remain watchful on the community’s behalf, but for the time being these developments seem to have been kicked into the long grass. Keep up to date by visiting this website or you can email us on ladybayfields@hotmail.com.
