The 19th annual Open Gardens weekend took place in Lady Bay, West Bridgford, Nottingham, on Saturday 19th & Sunday 20th June 2010.
The event was a huge success. The event attracted vistors from all over Nottingham. All money raised goes towards the FIELDS campaign to preserve local greenbelt and farmland.
16 wonderfully different local Gardens were open to the public, to explore, relax and enjoy. The trail included gardens (and gardeners) of all shapes and sizes, from family gardens to woodland hide aways, formal gardens to veg patches and green roofs. It was also a great opportunity to meet fellow gardeners who are keen to share their knowledge and enthusiastic efforts - from keen horticulturists & plant addicts to growers of juicy vegetables to perennial potterers.
This year we took the opportunity to include a number of ‘plant related' events, to provide a wide range of activities to ensure there was something for everyone to enjoy taking part in. Included will be a Plant Swap where people could bring along any unwanted plants and take home some new plants. There is also opportunity to buy plants direct from growers, as well as information on composting, gardening to encourage wildlife, opportunities to find out about local gardening groups, and activities for kids and families.
